Just buy BRANDED milk and NOT HOME BRAND. You actually get value added. These days with high volume producing cows the milk has lower solids (basically watered down by nature). Some farmers run a percentage of the older breeds and produce better milk, some run a pure jersey herd which is the richest milk. The factories pay a premium for this quality and if you also pay a premium you will get better milk. If you are in an area where you can get milk from a producer owned processor such as where I am then the farmer will be properly rewarded.
If you get a discount milk you get "diluted" milk. (lower solids, not fat). My wife describes the cheap milk as "vat wash"
