Am contemplating installing another solar system. I have 3 phase power. I have a 1.5 kw system on my rumpus room roof, and the main house a 6.6 kw system.

I think I have enough room on the balance of rumpus room, and my double carport roof for it to fit, and in theory have 1 phase of power it can be added to.

My small system cost $2k 6 years ago and has produced. 13942 KW (then inverter died this month and it was replaced under warranty) so has truly paid for itself. My 6.6 kw system has produced 7500 kw in 1 year... and asuming I send it ALL to the grid , I get 15c a kw its a 3 year pay back.

    I pay 36c a kw for power I use.

Now I have been offferred a 6.6kw system for $2300 .. so that in effect would be a 2 year payback if it makes the same as the other system.

It would mean during the day ALL power I consume is covered...

And what I send to the grid would give me credit for all the power I use at night...
I think Batteries are still too pricey for the return, like a 8-10 year payback...

I think adding another system makes good economical sense

Doing actual maths...on the results :

July 1 to now small system made 2100 KW
    large system made 7500 KW

9600 KW made.. 7392 sent to grid at 15c a kw

    So $1108 in income.

2208 kw at say 35c $770 in saved costs of electricity used.

so in 11 month $1880 in savings from the 2 systems...
