well, lets think that one through. firstly - how great is that unemployment rate? now let's set aside the likely explanation being lack of migration and go with booming economy as the Libs love to claim. if we have such a low employment rate, where are the employees going to come from.
i would posit that there is a segment of the population who just cannot see the economic incentive in returning to the workforce, however, with increased childcare contributions, they may - and lord knows there are plenty of vacancies - and so by supporting returning parents, perhaps the incoming government IS in fact growing Australian industry ( and actually getting some of that money back via tax receipts)
if there's anything the liberals could learn from the weekend is that there seems to be a bunch of educated, competent women willing to take their seats (both literally and figuratively)
