Tuk tuk's with seatbelts :).. Cost 30baht (<$1) for a 5km ride in one today.. Like everything else in Aus, doing anything is too expensive because everything has to be perfectly safe, clean, and regulated by several govt. beurocracies.
It's great catching a taxi from melb airport to city for $60, love it.
