Yes, this theory is mind blowing; I've been reading a lot of papers and trying to understand as much as I can about brine.
One thing that I found is the brine concentration is kept at depth because the brine with high concentration is much heavier that low concentration brine (about 20% heavier). This is going to the extreme in cases like brine pools on the ocean floor, where it can be a small "brine lake" not mixing with the seawater because of the density difference.
