There were sellers, about 140K total, as the announcement was made at 3.52pm. Technically, stock never came out of pre-open before the close. During the market adjust (between 4-4:12pm) stock was still in pre-open but only because of the closing adjust, so traded during the last snap (i.e. stock came out of pre-open during the adjust phase). Thats when all the sellers were taken out.
To put simply, apart from the closing snap, stock never had a chance to trade during market open.
