    Cry me a river. Cars are a fraction of the cost of ownership today compared to when boomers were young, and finance was 10% FLAT ie 20%. reducing.

    All appliances were expensive as hell. TVs, washers, fridges maybe 10 weeks wages so they had to be financed. Many never got out of the debt trap, it didn't matter how cheap that wooden box house was they could never save the 20% [banks demanded that] deposit.
