This division utilises the proprietary thermal desorption technology developed by Tox Free to separate toxic and hazardous materials from solids by heating and volatilising the material to be separated before condensing and managing the ultimate destruction through approved methods.

The operations of the Kwinana facility provide both remediation services such as treating PCB and chemical contaminated soils and provide ongoing waste management services for wastes such as perchloroethylene utilised by the Dry Cleaning industry.

Thermal Desorption - located at Kwinana Treatment Facility
Central to the services provided by Tox Free is the propriety thermal desorption system to separate hydrocarbons and chemical waste from inert solids. We operate 2 tonne per hour plants and also have a 50kg/hour pilot plant. The system has successfully processed PCB and pesticide contaminated soil, drilling waste and hydrocarbon contaminated waste.

It is defined as a BDAT (Best Demonstrated Available Technology), by the U.S. EPA, and has been applied successfully in a large number of operations including the treatment of contaminated soil, sludge, refinery sludge, pesticide-contaminated soil and material, pyrolisis of rubber and plastics and waste to energy. The Tox Free unit has been successfully operated in a number of projects in Australia.
