Here on HC we've been given the reason for the 17m trade (even though the original post has been moderated, so late arrivals wouldn't have a clue what went on). It might be factual, HC deems it unsubstantiated. There is no explanation for the other 15m+ trades for the day. How do we know the new investor hasn't been privy to some extra information? I expect it to be all above board. But the whole day was out of the usual and the ASX should err on the side of caution and ask for a please explain imo.
