To put it bluntly, this is a stupid move by the board.
However to an outsider the side shifting of the old CEO is probably due to major future restructuring which probably would have received no support by the existing CEO, therefore he would have to go, something like what happened to the old CEO of Telstra, they both ousted before their time.
