I think your metaphors place shareholders to far up the chain of command. Not that I think this will happen to MSB but i think the failed Masters hardware store is better example than bunnings of the original point, with employees being the shareholders wanting to make a profit on their effort.
If you feel it's a sinking ship - get a new job before you're caught with out.
