When you look at the right hand side of the HC page you'll see the stats for SLX daily trade split between ASX and Chi-X. You'll note that Chi-X is 1% of ASX. FYI, these are the 1% trades at the (always) bid price immediately after a "legitimate" trade through ASX occurs. For example, if SLX is 44.5-45 and I buy 5,000 at 45, within 1-5 seconds a trade for 50 will occur at 44.5.

To me this is price manipulation. It is always at the bid side of the price and seeks to give impression of weakness where but for the 1% algo trade, none exists.

I would love for ASIC to explain to me after it has been explained to them how this is a strategy to make money...unless it is is to artificially, very minutely, depress price...which is what you would want if you're shorting I guess.

I'm sure it happens to myriad other stocks. What a disgrace.
