Chief Executive Officer Appointed at SIOC-cdt

The Sishen Iron Ore Company-Community Development Trust (SIOC-cdt) also known as the “Super Trust” has appointed a Chief Executive Officer to the organisation. “It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Ms Shiphra Chisha as the new Chief Executive Officer of SIOC-cdt” said Mr Connie Molusi, Chairperson of the SIOC-cdt Board of Trustees. Ms Chisha comes with a strong finance, banking, and strategy development background. Prior to her role at SIOC-cdt, she was with Nedbank Business Banking responsible for driving Nedbank Business Banking Public Sector strategy and the migration of that strategy from Corporate Banking to Business Banking. Ms Chisha also worked for Sasol, Edcon, Bayers Pty Ltd and Peotona. She is currently the Chairperson and a Trustee of Anglo Inyosi Coal Community Trust, a Non-Executive Director of International Women’s Forum of South Africa, a Non-Executive Director of Anglo Inyosi Coal, a Director of Arkein Capital Partners and a member of IODSA. The newly appointed CEO is not new to the business of SIOC-cdt, as she has been serving as the Acting CEO since 2011 and brings into this position a wealth of experience that will strengthen the SIOC-cdt executive team and prepare the organisation for the next stage of its evolution. She was instrumental in the development of the SIOC-cdt 2030 vision. “I would like to thank Ms Chisha for steering the SIOC-cdt ship to this point and wish her success in her future endeavour to fulfil the mandate given to her by the Board”, concluded Mr Molusi. SIOC-CDT was created in 2006 when Kumba Resources was unbundled to form Kumba Iron Ore and Exxaro. Not only did the Kumba Resources company want to empower more South Africans, it wanted to ensure that the communities that played host to its operations, had the greatest benefit. The Super Trust, through the dividend flow from this transaction, has to date spent in access of R264-million furthering the interests of the communities it serves. The operating model of the Super Trust has enabled the Trust to reach over 300 000 beneficiaries.
