Chief Operating Officer Appointed
Blue Energy Limited (ASX:BUL) has strengthened its technical and operational capabilities with the appointment of highly qualified coal seam gas (CSG) specialist Ray Johnson as the Company’s Chief Operating Officer.
Blue Energy’s Managing Director Sharif Oussa said “This appointment reflects the Company’s strong focus on the early development of its CSG resources in the Surat and Bowen Basins. Ray’s experience in developing startup projects in both Basins will be of immeasurable value in bringing these high potential projects on-line.”
Mr. Johnson has 27-years engineering and management experience in conventional and CSG well operations throughout Australia and the United States. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from Texas A&M University and a Masters Degree in Petroleum
Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Ray gained extensive experience in CSG operations with BJ Services Company and subsequently with S.A. Holditch & Associates in several of America’s major CSG producing areas. He has published numerous technical papers on unconventional gas well completions and hydraulic fracturing technologies.
In 2000, Ray joined Santos in Brisbane as Petroleum Engineering Team Leader, where he was responsible for performing the hydraulic fracturing, completion and testing of Santos’ first development project in CSG, the Scotia Field in the Bowen Basin of Eastern Queensland. During this time, he also implemented many new hydraulic fracturing and completion techniques into the Southwest Queensland sector of the Cooper Basin.
In 2004, Ray joined QGC as General Manager of Operations and led a team of production, drilling, and geosciences personnel to achieve superlative performance from previously underachieving pilots and new pilot wells in exploratory tenements. These technical and operational achievements supported QGC in being awarded the first and second tranches of third-party reserve certifications in the Walloon coals in the Surat Basin totalling over 2000 Bscf in 3P reserves (QGC’s share).
