Blooreeler, a few of my wife's school mates "had to" get court orders to marry young....their fathers probably renewed their shotgun licences at the same time as getting the order.
I know a community nurse who is proud of the fact she was living with her husband when she was 13....
None of those people had any apparent harm come to them over their youthful marriages....
Had a workmate who was "married with children" at 18, his wife was much younger.....I envied him because his family was grown up while he was still quite young.

You mention "shitty nappies"....a lot of girls of that era were more mature at a young age and could cook & feed their younger sibblings and run the house when needed to....including dealing with them nappies....Back then, that WAS life, in rural areas, at least.
