I think the religion is still living in dark ages and hasn't advanced as western cultures have to give a structure to acceptable ages in the modern day for marriage & that will only come in time.

A few points firstly just on evolution as a whole & not implying for a second in the modern day but wouldn't the optimum time historically for women to rear children be at the age they begin ovulation ? It wouldn't happen at that point for no reason would it ? and no we are not animals but that is exactly the point they begin to breed.

For the religious viewpoint if we were all created by a god wouldn't he have had the master plan & made the time of ovulation for a purpose ?

Our life expectancy has increased exponentially over the years so there is no rush for procreation in the modern day hence the appropriate age grows as society evolves.
