Except that if the nanny trial is any indication of where the government is at, in terms of mind-set and direction, it's not (early childhood) *education* that they're interested in, but simply child minding; you only need to be over 18 and no criminal record... not that far away from skill set needed to flip burgers, operate a cash registers, and drive mining trucks.
They're not interested in investing public money in quality education for all - even though all the evidence suggests investing at the early childhood level makes the greatest return on increasing and strengthen overall socioeconomic stability. That'll be left to those who can already afford it (to go further still). Those at the bottom will continue to flip burgers, operate cash registers, and driving mining trucks for the next generation to come.
