(Adds molybdenum output)
SANTIAGO, May 29 (Reuters) - Chile, which provides about a third of the world's copper, produced 435,132 tonnes of the metal in April, down 5.6 percent from the same month last year, the government said Thursday.
Output from January through April this year fell 2.3 percent from the same period last year to 1.759 million tonnes.
In March this year, Chile's copper output was 459,578 tonnes.
Chile also produced 2,404 tonnes of molybdenum in April, 41 percent less than in the same month last year as it was hit by massive strikes at Codelco, the nation's chief copper and molybdenum miner.
