One invests in anticipation of national and personal profit, yet copper, gold and molybdenum mines are wasting or exhausting assets - once extracted they are gone. In fairness, it may be said they are part of a nation and should thus be used in part to finance services for that nation.

The recent death of ER11, who served in the war, was a strong reminder that she somehow both represented and quietly worked toward a post WW11 consensus that we should avoid war and hurt and generate fairer and more sharing societies.

Thatcher and Reagan with their puerile 'trickle down' economic nonsense reduced that approach, Trump and our former PM trashed it entirely.

Fortunately, our last election produced both a more feminine and likely a more humane parliament. Probably because Covid showed us who and what sort of work is actually of real value and what is really important.

Looks as if Boric will also be part of a broader, shared but still climate threatened world 'fairer' future.
