I was in France a few months ago. In the tourist areas of Paris, things seemed normal (apart from the Roumanian beggars) but French friends say that there are certain arrondisements that are no go areas. Even the police need armed escorts to go in there.
Apparently 70% of the inmates of prisons are Muslim and these are well-known breeding grounds for disaffection and terrorism.
Not sure if I will be going back to France any time soon.
