thanks CREDIT. that's good research and very interesting. there are 2 aspects which allay my concerns somewhat:

if the finance was negotiated in march, that's well down the track in the credit crunch and any bank lending at that time would have had to be very comfortable with what chimaera is doing with the money; and

it sounds like they borrowed to get into the market (directly or indirectly) at rockbottom prices, and let's say they bought bank shares or BHP, they'd be way ahead already. even if they lent the money, most people would have done well since then

does that make sense?
