NEWS: China allocates second batch of rare earth export quotas for 2010 July 8, 2010 -- BEIJING (Source: Metal-Pages) -- China has just allocated the second batch of export quotas for rare earths in 2010. The second batch of quotas total 7,976 tonnes, representing a sharp decrease of about 51% compared to the quotas of 16,304 tonnes seen for the first batch in 2010, and also down about 51% from 16,267 tonnes for the second batch in 2009.
In the meantime, China?s Ministry of Commerce has also announced the second batch of export quotas for rare earths in 2010 for foreign-founded enterprises, which usually lags about two months behind the quotas for Chinese companies. The total amount of 7,976 tonnes includes 1,768 tonnes for the second batch quotas for foreign-founded enterprises, compared to 5,978 tonnes allocated for the first half year for these companies.
