In September 2013, JSPL is understood to have evinced interest to invest about $2 billion in the mine initially. It also purportedly proposed to build a power plant to supply electricity to the suburbs of Monrovia as part of its deal.
China now offers $5 billion in financial incentives alone, more than double of India's offer (made at the time when IOP was $135 per tonne), when IOP is now around $40 per tonne.
Hopefully China has also done a win-win with Cameroon and Congo.
Cheers.
