I don't think the Chinese coast would be overly susceptible to big waves given it's somewhat shielded by Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the smaller islands surrounding the South China Sea. The Coast is usually ideal given the endless supply of water, which is the main risk inland on rivers or lakes that might be susceptible to droughts or other issues.
