That is true, and I had thought about it.
But really, is the best use of our money replacing a washing machine every 5 years, instead of 15 years?
If we weren’t spending money on poor quality goods that need to be prematurely replaced, we would have more money for other things...home improvements, holidays etc.
And most of the crap is imported in any case, so the job losses are more limited (retail, transport).
