This whole Tellurian thing sounds fanciful to me.
"Tellurian's Driftwood LNG project has a capacity of 27.6 million mt/year and is expected to cost around $16 billion for the terminal and another $2 billion for the pipeline. The 26 million mt/year facility is expected to come online in 2022 despite not having announced any offtake agreements."
The Americans are not going to let China have equity and might baulk at Japan.
Tellurian cannot sell 1mmt at the moment and they plan to sell 26mmt shortly.
And where are they planning to get $16 billion from?
As far as I see, Tellurian's entire credibility rests on Souku's prior association with Cherniere which itself is struggling to sell its expansion product.
The bottom line for us is LNG has to sell some product and soon.
Remember if the LNG and Tellurian and other deals fall over and there is large demand for LNG a company like Chevron can come along and say "we got a spare $12 billion, we'll build one of those plants if you can cut the red tape for us
