So far China has been delivering the goods and unless the US nukes China, it will likely pass out the US in $USD GDP ( passed out the USA in PPP in 2014) by 2026 and its navy, airforce & army will have likely passed out the USA by 2035, IMO..
of course what Xi did not say is that by 2060 China's polluting industries such as steel , coal fired electricity/LNG electricity and aluminium manaufacturing will likely have migrated to adjacent BRI countries together with labour intensive, low value goods' manufacturin .
While the USA has its 5 eye military alliance , China's BRI & Made In Chna 2025 is excelerating its dominance over 70% of the global population.
In relation to the USA,aA variation of Cool Hand Luke could be: "What we have here is a failure of the USA to re-industrialise" !
Instread the USA is acting like two yachts in the American Cup by trying to take the wind out of the competitors sails but of course Global Economics is more than a two yacht race .
If he USA manages to temporarily stymie China's growth, Japan, Korea & Germany will likely pick up te slack, IMO; not the USA.
That said, however, at present China is growing at 3% while the US is going backways @ -9%.This is why China will overhaul the USA in GDP much earlier than anticipated, IMO.
