we also forget that china's culture is diametrically opposite to australia, and we often judge them on our theory, they have a long term plan, the eastern philsophy is about the long term, against the western which is all about now! You cant stop the biggest industrialisation of a population that we will ever see.

The other good thing is face, the chinese may play by a different rule book in terms of business (which I might add the aussies are picking up on quickly) but remember a few years back the premier addressing the parliament of australia, well worth a revisit, the premier pointed out that they had been trading with australia since the great fleet in teh 1400's visited and they consider australia an ally and friend, he was at great pains to go through our history together, and how whitlam was the first western leader to offer the hand of friendship to china,

Throw in that we have the technology, and will to provide them with the materials they need, and we have a sustained engine which we shoudl try and add value to.

don't underestimate face, try and understand where they are coming from, we could be our own worst enemy by being to western rather than just our selves and appreciating differnt cultures.
