I've been watching China closely for quite a few years now. Not so much as a hobby, but because I ran a Western Australian engineering company that was being hammered, like so many others, by the growth in quality product from China. By this, I don't mean cheap necessarily, but cheaper than ours.
I don't think at this stage there is anything to be worried about having the Chinese wrap up the tech. Share holders will get tapped much less, there won't be as much under the table manipulation, and things will progress faster than they would in a crowded market such as the U.S. I could be wrong, but I've seen Chinese companies willing to send container loads of product on consignment to unproven distributors with little more than a handshake. That is how to get into markets fast.
I'm a bit sick of conservative Western attitudes with their "give me an order and I'll think about producing" mentality. It's a good part of the reason I left my position of 28 years and started my own company.
