"A 1 billion-ton iron ore deposit has been found in northern Hebei province, the head of the province's Bureau of Land and Resources said, according to Xinhua News Agency on Saturday.


The six-kilometer-long deposit is the largest found in China since the 1980s, Zhang Shaolian said, according to the report.


In addition to the proven 1.04-billion-ton iron ore, the deposit has an estimated unproven reserve of 500 million tons, it said."
