    China confirms eighth bird flu case

    CHINA has confirmed its eighth human case of the H5N1 bird flu virus, the official Xinhua news agency said overnight.

    The six-year-old boy from central Hunan province was being treated in hospital, Xinhua cited the health ministry as saying.
