China is determined to become the world's leading battery electric automaker, exporting quality product (foreign or domestic brands) at competitive prices to consumers all across the world. They appear to have sufficient raw material rare earths for magnet manufacturing (from its own hard rock resources and by importing bastnaesite and monazite concentrates), and control nearly all of the middle supply chain (oxide, metal and magnets) using overcapacity and clever tax policy. This will continue to occur if Western governments are stupid enough to allow it. ARU, amongst other rare earth project proponents, is betting they won't.

There is mounting evidence that ARU has made the right call.
