China graphite exports, imports continue to rise in August

Imports of graphite to China have increased massively in 2017 with a large amount of amorphous grade coming from North Korea while an increase in flake imports from Africa marks a shift in the traditional flow of material.
In August, China natural graphite exports increased 10.2% year-on-year (y-o-y) to 32,897 tonnes, while imports, mostly amorphous graphite, increased 50.6% y-o-y to 15,397 tonnes.

IMO a massive shift is happening in the graphite market ! China imports of graphite increasing year on year and month after month. This is the end of cheap graphite from China and north american and european customers need to find new supplies elsewhere.
