IMO, the Chinese BRI plan has economically cocooned the non US alliance countries as the subject of Chinese investment & trade.

It is interesting to note that it includes NZ & over half of Europe. Perhaps NZ is getting the best of two worlds:
-benefits of the BRI & no China or US trade barriers
-still in the 5 Eyes Program & the ANZUS alliance.

Israel is also a member if the BRI program.
