Trump is just playing his ally game, double standard game. It is never a US and China war. It is more like Trump vs China.
Trump banned Microsoft to acquire Tiktok while showing green-light to Orcale and Walmart? They are both US company. So his claim on everything he did is for US economy is irrelevant. But IMO, if Biden win in November. It will be a even darker period for all tech related stock. So, it is a matter of choice between worst to worse.
For the chips issue, Trump now allow intel, AMD to sell chips to Huawei, but only limit to low profit-margin chips (desktop & labtop etc chips). All high profit margin chips like below 5nm is still on the ban list. So, eventually China is still left with no option but to burn billions or maybe trillion of dollar into semiconductor industry and try to be self-sufficient in long term.
