Mooroo,
You are reading China very eraneously.
The difference between China and the former Soviet Union is as big as the pacific ocean, and the USA nowadays is vastly different from the pre-Clinton decades.
China's ,military/defence development is for defending against the emperial lootings, refer to Iraq, refer to Afganistan.
The US has sent their troops everywhere on earth, not to spread "democracy" but rather, to conquer nations who don't behave according to US wishes, which is solely to defend the US dollar based economic order, one which fformer French president De Gaule dubbed "exhorbitant privilege".
China has pursued an economic and international policy that lately do not defer to the US dollar hegemonic system: China refuses to be looted by way of subjecting itself to the plunderous ways of the IMF and Wall Street gansters, refuses to accept rule of the US imperialists. Thus we see the US "return to Asia". And how are they returning to Asia? by bringing in troops in Australia, by sending old lady Hilary to stir up with distortions. The few troops the US stationed in Australia is a childish play.
Have you read the full atimes.com article I quoted/linked? You can try to specifically refute the points/arguments made there, rather than grandstanding about China/US with names and ideological hubris like "communists", "democratic",,, etc. What's in a name if you don't know the details or the essence?
The first time "China will collapse" prediction was made shortly after 1989 and the Soviet disolvement, when is became clear that China was not to go the way the western designers has hoped for. A few decades have passed. Tell you what, you can wait a few more decades. Wanna bet?
