To provide some sense of the project and potential targets for our project here's a map highlighting our resource and "others" in the area.
The Mbalam Iron Ore Project is located on the northern edge of the Congo Craton in southeastern Cameroon. It focuses on high-grade iron ore deposits primarily derived from banded iron formations (BIFs) dating back to the Archean. The project area features supergene hematite enrichments formed through weathering processes, particularly in areas of laterite development. Regional exploration has identified extensive iron ore clusters, including deposits in neighboring Congo and **on. The project has significant economic potential, with inferred resources of direct shipping ore (DSO) quality hematite.
The total size of the Mbalam Iron Ore Project,
including the Avima resource, is vast. The Mbalam-Nabeba project alone is estimated to contain over 775 million tonnes of high-grade direct shipping ore (DSO) across various deposits. The Avima iron ore deposit, located nearby in the Republic of Congo, is one of the largest high-grade hematite deposits in the region, contributing further to the region’s overall resource potential. Together, these deposits form a significant iron ore province within the Congo Craton.
The combined lifetime of the Mbalam-Nabeba and Avima iron ore mines is substantial. If the projected annual production of 80 million tonnes of iron ore is achieved, the Mbalam-Nabeba project alone has an expected mine life of approximately 12 to 15 years. When factoring in the Avima deposit, the lifetime could be extended even further, depending on the rate of extraction, infrastructure development, and any additional resources identified during ongoing exploration. This region holds significant long-term potential for iron ore production.
I personally would like to see some data come from the company, and i'm sure in good time it will hit us like a brick and announcements will roll in. I am expecting to see trickles of news start coming over the next 4 weeks as the minions in China, Congo and Cameroon sift through the data compiled at FOCAC 2024 and we hear it via the African press, to start with, then officially.
