The self-obsessed Bentley hairies should read this quote from Big Oil bogyman, Chevron’s ex-CEO, (David J. O’Reilly) as long ago as 2007:

“The energy supply we have today is focused on meeting the demands of one billion (people who have quality of life/standard of living) and the 2 billion (who are moving up) - not the 3 billion who are still in poverty, let alone the 3 billion who have not been born yet".

The mind-boggling scale of this increase in global energy consumption and the investment required in all energy sources - including renewables - is something like $1 Trillion per year for 40 odd years. This figure is beyond comprehension.

The hairies’ comprehension is limited to discounted meat from a Casino butcher and a modest $20,000 "kickass solar trailer" for Bentley and Beyond. And they struggled with financing it: Less than a third of its cost was raised by donations and the rest is on a PLASTIC credit card!

They are parochial, myopic, ignorant and shamefully indifferent to the energy needs of the world beyond the Border Ranges – with consequences to humanity IMO.

They are incapable of understanding that Metgasco’s contribution, however tiny, is important not just to NSW or Australia but in the global scheme of things a piece of the energy supply jigsaw.

It’s worth remembering that only recently and after much argument the world’s scientists on the UN’s International Panel on Climate Change accepted that gas was an acceptable transition fuel.
