Maybe Mr Barnett should take note of this achievement that not only made it profitable to export coal but also built the towns, ports, rail and infrastructure. I believe all the money invested in QR was refunded to the government many times over and it was also sold for its maximum value.
The old saying "you dont get something (mining tax) for nothing" seems to apply here.
