    From the article:
    "
Tensions over the South China Sea are set to escalate after it was reported China has set up weapons on its artificial islands that are still being constructed in the much-disputed region.
The Asian superpower and the United States have locked horns over the area, with Washington most recently warning Beijing not to challenge the U.S. Navy operating in the South China Sea saying 'nobody in their right mind is going to try'."

    Oh dear!

So, while China has a claim to the area, what is wrong with them setting up a defence against militarist aggression by the capitalists and their lackeys"

    and the scary bit:
"Australian navy may start conducting more patrols in show of disapproval"

But more seriously, isnt it time the ownership of that area is decided legally once and for all before somebody pulls a trigger? And what will happen to our trade with China when Australian warships confront Chinese vessels militarily? Couldnt happen? If China broke off all ties, it would be as devastating for us as a war.
Somebody obviously hasnt thought this through.....
Just maybe, just for once, a military solution is not the answer...
