IMO, China will want to downplay its successes during this economic war until such time that it is armed to the teeth to counter any US aggression including a Nuke War.
At present China has about 300 Nukes, Russia & the USA about 6000 each but as WW2 proved, war is not neccessarily about numbers but rather more about the quality of hardware, software and Generals.
China (defacto) won the Vietnam War with superior warcraft rather than superior equipment and similarly the USSR fought the USA to a standstill in Korea again with superior warcraft.
WW3, however, may be a the first war where the opposing forces will not be on the same battlefield. In fact with Nukes, it may be advisable to be on different continents.
This is why, IMO, that China will not want the US economy to collapse; but rather like Paul Keating "do them slowly"
In this sense, we have to be prepared for a generation of Economic/Cold War and at present we are poorly positioned both militarily & economically.
We are spending $300 billion on silly Subs & Warships which will be useless in the event of an intercontinental war between the USA & China. Instead we should be equipping ourselves with a continental defensive anti-balistic missile cordon to protect ourselves in a future all our Nuke War.
The USA will never agree to not being the Global power and we all know that the biggest industrial nation always has the resources and know-how to equip and win wars. China has managed to overtake the USA in GDP (PPP) within 30 years and it is heading to displace the USA in USD GDP within 6 years.
The USA is currently crippled economically with $27 Trillion debt and within 3 years that is likely to be $35 Trillion with a shrinking economy, IMO.
China is building aircraft carriers in 3 years while it has taken the USA 12 years.
That said, global powers have histoorically lasted about 200 years on average and crumbled from within rather than being skittles for the outside.
So folks, be careful what you wish for because ultimately an all out Nuke war between the USA on one side & China-Russia on the other will likely wipe out Aus regardless of who wins, IMO.
This is why we should be peacemakers like the Nordic Countries; not warmongers
