    Hi moondong,

"Massive import duties on our Chinese imports"?

Very respectfully, may I ask that you give the suggestion some very serious thought.

Who would want to suffer a massive price increase on a great proportion of their consumer spending?

And what is an import duty? It is a tax! The tax would not be paid by the Chinese, but by the consumer here. Who would voluntarily consent to an increase in their already back-breaking taxation burden?

And if that isn't enough, consider where that tax will end up. It will end up in the hands of the parliaments, who will likely use it to finance their continuing reign of oppression and economic incompetence.

Keep in mind also, that that quarrel is not ours. Therefore, let the belligerents sort it out between themselves without us suffering from the result.
