china steel consumption

this is a slide from the Fortescue presentation at the Diggers & dealers conf.

I was staggered to see the rate of growth of per capita consumption of steel in China, presented in such a clear manner!

just have a look at the rise from almost nothing in about 2000, to around 2010. That's about a fivefold increase in consumption in just 10 yrs.! amazing.

so I guess it might explain just why the Chinese want LNG to satiate the energy requirements of this boom.
