China could choke off the supply of critical rare-earth elements to the American defence contractor Lockheed Martin under new sanctions imposed on the company, state media have reported.Beijing announced on Tuesday that it would target the world’s largest defence manufacturer in retaliation for the US government’s decision to approve an upgrade package for Taiwan’s Patriot surface-to-air missiles, which are made by the company.
