Actually the fact that Omicron will now sweep through most of the population with a relatively more benign outcome is to the advantage of the world outside China. It will rapidly confer immunity to almost everybody while China relies on lock downs and isolation. As a result Chinese citizens will have almost no immunity since the home grown vaccinations have virtually no efficacy against new variants. If a new more lethal variant of Omicron evolves the rest of the world will be relatively protected, but the problem for China will increase.
