Does it really matter where the coal comes from? Surely it is a commodity and thus the price will be the same everywhere. If Canada can sell coking coal to China at $220 then the price in Aussie will be $200 at least. (Arbitrage opps for Canadians (or anyone for that matter) to buy coal in Australia and sell it on to the Chinese.). Or is freight costs too great? China purchasing from Canada will just create demand for Australian coal from elsewhere so everyone benefits.
