Lastly, back to the thread topic, I am not sure how familiar are you with Chinese history and current issues. But, I am going to give you a very short answer,
(1). does China have freedom of speech? Yes
(2). what level is the freedom of speech in China? Limited, normally restricted to political issues.
(3). why lots of Chineses are being emotional against Morey tweet? No separatism is allowed in China from both government and society perspective and, please google "opium war".
(4). who is wrong in this collision? No one is wrong from self interest point of view, but, NBA or Morey just can not expect to gain China market without respecting Chinese history and its people.

Chinese are told they have free-speech but try ask someone about the June Fourth Incident and you'll hear crickets. They're scared. A terrible way to live.

So with respect to your answer (4) - why would the NBA or Morey be expected to respect Chinese History (I assume you're talking about the history of HK) to gain access to the Chinese market?

Why should they if the Chinese won't even respect their own history and certainly don't respect their people?

I think what you mean to say is

"respecting Chinese Narrative and its Government".
