That depends who replaces Xi Jinping when he dies; another authoritarian dictator in your grandkids generation or someone more open and less recalcitrant? That will ultimately determine if we get your "nuclear winter" vision and get to stay alive. Maybe your grand kids will fight as a proxy for another Xi who has tried to weaponise Chinese race by appealing to Chinese descendants living outside of China, in Western countries.
But China is still very immature in the handling of international diplomacy and criticism and hasn't had to live through such a crisis like other powers have.
