The dreams of a clean power system for a world that still has an expanding population is fine but a lot of people need to look at the actual physical realities of the equipment
China is still expanding and building more coal fired power plants, it has closed a lot of power plants which were the equivalent of a coal fire in the middle of the room with a generator suspended over the flames. IE extremely inefficient old plants that should have been shut years ago.
New Nuclear plants are being built thru-out the world which will feed some of the demand and as time goes by they will develop more efficient Nuclear plants
As to home power plants with batteries of any sort just wait until the maintenance and replacement costs start to build up. I agree there is a case to be said for home solar panels to supplement the existing poor supply and if you are in an area where the costs of a permanent supply are prohibitive by all means there is a case for your own supply
But almost all the augments that I hear about power supplies fall down on the fact that they are just not economical or practical apart from the ghastly visual pollution that the greens must shudder at every time the see them and have a crises of thought as to what is more important, the mess that they make of the countryside, the environment and population or the dream of pushing green energy at any price
It is necessary to get real and stop dreaming
