Unlike the USA which we're tied to, Aus does not have
a long term plan to decouple from China. And that's not surprising
because most of our exports are owned by Multinationals
(dont kid yourselves ...BHP & RIO, arguably two of our biggest are
92% and 94% foreign owned respectively.
And of course the Brazilians own the lions share of our beef exports
So the long term purpose of SEZs (exclusively Aussie owned) is
to "buy back the farm" by the back door and legislate to make that possible
(ie: SEZ legislation)
Indonesia has a fully functioning COW system whereby major foreign owned
resource enterprises have to be at least 51% Indonesian owned within
ten years and that has not stymied Indonesian GDP growth which is at
worst twice ours!
